HP printers - Troubleshoot printing issues with Mopria Print Service (Android)
This document is for Android mobile devices that can print to wireless or wired network (Ethernet) connected HP printers that are Mopria certified.
Review these steps to resolve issues when printing from your Android mobile device.
Cannot print using the Mopria Print Service on an HP Slate or Android device
Follow the solutions to troubleshoot common settings and connectivity issues when printing with the Mopria Print Service.
Solution one: Make sure that Mopria Print Service is turned on

Open Settings (
).

Tap Printing.

Find the Mopria Print Service, and then tap On, if it is not already selected.

Try to print.
Solution two: Restart all devices and check the connections
Restarting the router, printer, and mobile device might resolve network-related printing issues.
Step 1: Restart the mobile device, router, and your printer
Follow these steps to restart the network router, the printer, and the mobile device, and then try the print job again.

Turn off the router.Check with the router manufacturer for instructions on how to turn off the router.

Press the Power button to turn off your printer.

Turn off the mobile device.

Turn on the router, and then wait 30 seconds to let it complete its start-up process.

Turn on the mobile device and make sure it connects to your wireless network.

Press the Power button to turn on your printer.

Try to print.
Step 2: Make sure that your printer is connected to your mobile device
Follow these steps to make sure that the HP printer and the mobile device are connected to the same network.

You can access the network settings directly from the printer control panel or by printing a network configuration report.
NOTE:
Refer to your printer manual or product support home page for instructions how to print a network configuration report. -
Make sure that the network name is the same as the name of the wireless network you use with your mobile device.
Step 3: Update the firmware for the printer and the router
Outdated printer or router firmware can cause mobile printing issues. Update the firmware to the latest version.

Make sure that your printer the latest firmware version installed. You can visit the HP product support page for more information.

Make sure that your router can forward mDNS packets and has the latest firmware from the manufacturer.Check the specifications or support documentation for your router, or contact the router manufacturer, to make sure that your router supports mDNS.
My HP printer is listed, but I can’t select it or it is not working
Follow these steps to make sure that your mobile device is connected to your printer's wireless network.

On your mobile device, tap Settings (
), tap Wi-Fi, and then tap On, if it is not already on.

Select your printer or accessory.
NOTE:
If you are prompted for a password, you can find the password in the Wireless Direct menu on the printer control panel. -
Try to print.
Why can’t I print to my USB-connected printer?
Mopria Print Service does not support USB connected printers. The printer must set up on a network. Some non-Mopria certified printers can add Mopria Print Service capability by using an accessory such as the Mopria certified HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
Printer is listed two times or too many print services are listed under print settings
If you have other print services installed on your mobile device in addition to Mopria Print Service (such as the HP Print Service) when printing, you might see both print services listed for the same printer.
Make sure to select your printer or accessory labeled with the 'Mopria Print Service' listed under the name of your printer or accessory.
Option 1: Select your printer
Select your printer to connect it to your mobile device.

On your mobile device, tap Settings (
), and then tap Printing.

Find Mopria Print Service, and then tap On.The app automatically searches for nearby printers or accessories.

Select your printer or accessory to connect it to your mobile device.

Try to print.
Option 2: Turn off other print services
If multiple print service are listed, you can turn off those that are not in use.

On your mobile device, tap Settings (
), and then tap Printing.

Find Mopria Print Service, and then tap On, if it is not already on.The app automatically searches for nearby printers or accessories.

For all other print services that you do not plan to use, tap Off.

Try to print.
