Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP Laserjet Pro M15W

Many HP printers have a Wi-Fi setup mode that helps you connect your printer to a network. This mode is enabled for two hours during first-time printer setup. Restore Wi-Fi setup mode if the printer is not found during software setup or when the connection is lost.

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on most HP printers

Use the control panel on your printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Printers with a touchscreen display

Use the touchscreen to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon  or Wireless icon .

  2. Select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

    NOTE:

    Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

  3. If a confirmation prompt displays, touch Yes.

  4. Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.

  5. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP inkjet and ink tank printers without a touchscreen

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. Press the Cancel button  to ready the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  and Cancel button  simultaneously until the Power button blinks.

    NOTE:

    Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

  3. Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet printers without a touchscreen

  1. Press the Cancel button  to ready the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  until the Attention light blinks.

  3. Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. Press the Cancel button  to ready the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  and the Cancel button  at the same time for five seconds until the Power button starts blinking.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Use the Wireless button on the back of your printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button  for five seconds.

  2. Wait for the Status light to turn purple.

  3. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Laser 100, Color Laser 150 printers

Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. Press the Cancel button  or Resume/Cancel button  to ready the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  for 20 seconds until the Attention and Power lights blink.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

  1. Press the Menu button .

  2. Use the right arrow  to navigate to Network, and then press OK.

  3. Select Wi-Fi Default, and then press OK.

Use the Wireless and Cancel buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. Press the Cancel button  to ready the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  and the Cancel button  at the same time for three seconds until the printer restarts.

  3. After the printer restarts, wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet M109-M112 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. If the printer is in sleep mode (the Ready light is on but dim), press the Resume/Cancel button  to wake up the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  for more than 20 seconds or until the Attention light  blinks.

  3. Release the Wireless button .

    The printer restarts and the Wireless light blinks.

  4. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 printers

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. If the printer is in sleep mode (the Ready light is on but dim), press the Cancel button  to wake up the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Wireless button  and the Cancel button  for five seconds.

  3. Wait for the printer to restart and for the Wireless light  to blink.

Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button  on the back of the printer for five seconds or until the control panel display shows a prompt.

  2. On the prompt, touch OK to restore the network default settings. The status light blinks purple.

  3. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

HP Tango printers

Use the Wi-Fi button on the back of the printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button  for five seconds.

  2. Wait for the Status light to pulse blue.

  3. Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.
